Florachek®

Florachek® – unique test glove for point-of-care diagnosis of women’s urogenital health

Epidemiological estimates from India reveal the prevalence of vaginal infections to be as high as 30%*.

Recent data from a CDC study shows that 75% of all women suffer from a vaginal infection at some point of time in their lives.

Yet, despite being symptomatic and also undergoing clinical evaluation, most of these vaginal infections are either remain undiagnosed or are misdiagnosed

This situation underlines the unmet need for better, simpler and easier tools to help quickly diagnose vaginal infections preferably by non-invasive methods.

Physiological vaginal pH is between 3.8 and 4.5. The right pH (acidic pH) of vagina acts as a shield against pathogens, especially sexually transmitted infections.

The right vaginal pH also inactivates the bacterial enzymes with glycolytic activity (such as sialidase, mucinase, etc) and reinforces the adhesion of beneficial lactobacilli to the vaginal epithelium thus improving colonization.

Abnormal alterations in vaginal pH are often seen in vaginal pathologies such as:

Vaginal pH: A simple, non-invasive indicator of vaginal infections

Measuring the vaginal pH regularly by a simple and point-of-care diagnostic glove helps detect vaginal infections quickly.  This is because any alteration in normal vaginal pH is an early indicator of pathogenic and inflammatory changes in the vagina.

FLORACHEK® – is a Simple, point-of-care test device that help detect vaginal pH changes easily and quickly, even in low resource settings. With simple training, FLORACHEK® – can be easily and effectively used for point-of-care diagnosis of vaginal pH changes very easily and quickly even by mid-wives.

The existing options for managing vaginal infections have their own drawbacks

Antibiotic therapy for vaginal infections is the current mainstay of treatment. However, it’s effectiveness has been hampered by growing antibiotic resistance on account of indiscriminate usage of antibiotics.

Hence, a simple and easy to use, diagnostic tool like FLORACHEK® that detects vaginal changes early, can go a long way in minimizing and optimizing the usage of antibiotics for vaginal infections.

Diagnostic vaginal culture kits are time consuming, relatively expensive, allergenic and are prone to contamination.

FLORACHEK® on the other hand, is very quick, easy, economical and safe to use. Moreover, FLORACHEK® is already included in FOGSI (Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecological Society of India) practice guidelines, demonstrating its high value as a diagnostic tool for checking Vaginal pH.

Cosmeceutical and herbal vaginal washes may help only marginally in the maintenance of normal vaginal pH but have little or no utility at all in curing vaginal infections or in restoring normal vaginal pH.

In contrast to this, FLORACHEK® helps detect an abnormal vaginal pH quickly, so that the right remedial measures can be instituted by Healthcare Professionals.
